The latest instalment of Cumulative Update package for SQL Server 2008 R2 is available for download, before implement it on production make sure you test the installation. Well, its time now again for all DBAs and System Administrators out there to do some real-world testing on their SQL Server 2008 instance platform, service pack 3 for SQL Server 2008 is released now. SQL Server 2008 R2 service pack 1 contains all the cumulative update pack releases since RTM release. This means SP1 CTP consist the CU Package releases from 1 to 6, as CU7 has released on April 18th 2011. Recently there were flurry of questions about how to know the list of builds and packages released after the last service pack release. KBA 2402659 talks about the last release after SQL server 2008 SP2, such as Build 10.00.4266( 2289254 cumulative update) that was released on Nov.15 2010. BOL - Book OnLine is a primary resource to get to know about the product in addition to the numerous blogs & resources on the web. Typical and rare error occured when I'm trying to access the local copy of SQL Server 2008 R2 Books Online on my machine, see the image below: BOL is my favourite and first point of resource to obtain any information with regard to SQL Server, by default they are installed when you select client tools installation or server services installation.
