SQL Server Manageability - Choose Analysis Services database backup strategy
Until SQL Server 2005 performing a backup of Analysis Services database was a troublesome, not like DB engine database backup statements. As said above 2005 version onwards the backup and restore operations are an integral part of the Analysis Services infrastructure, as the backup operation has been completely rebuilt.
