A typical problem occurs when SQL Server client tools do have any issues. There is no easy way to say that SSMS (client tools) are corrupted, unless you can reproduce the same issue on other machine it cannot be assured. If it is a bug from tools you can easily file them on Microsoft connect site and preferably search for similar problem before posting a new one.
