I need your help. I know how I create databases, and I’ve watched a lot of other data professionals follow their own processes for that, but I want to know how YOU do it. Earlier on today I tweeted the following message: Anyone think #sqlserver BOL should have the examples at the top? That's the only bit people read, right? In other words, the examples that appear in SQL Server Books Online are the most useful things in there so perhaps they should go at the top of the pages rather than right at the bottom. I do find that recruitment agents often don't appreciate the people they are trying to recruit, they seem to stick all the skills they can in the job. Maybe to try and attract as many people as possible. However I do find that the request for skills in different areas is all too common, and if you find someone that fits surely they're knowledge is going to be thin across all technologies. (more)

This week I came home from work to find a unexpected package waiting for me. When I opened it, I found a copy of Kevin Kline’s (blog/twitter/website) latest edition of SQL in a Nutshell. I forget now exactly how the topic came up, but at some point in the past Kevin offered to send me a copy of the book.
